baby steps ......

it has been on my woodworking bucket list to make a set of goblets -- kindly don't ask why, because i don't know -- just something i have always had a hankering to do -- without boring you with any of the details (unless you press me) -- my first attempt -- just hacked off a piece off of a spindle i had lying around from earlier stuff i did with the router boss 4th axis -- the goblet is 7 1/2" long, 3 1/8" diameter at the lip, wall thickness is 3/16" at the lip, probably 1/4" a little farther in (still work to do there), the depth of the cavity is 2 5/8" and the stem is 2" long and 1 1/4" in diameter --

if you search youtube for goblet making posts -- there are a couple that are really neat -- that's the next step and i have absolutely no doubt i can do any of them with the router boss with the motor drive upgrade to the 4th axis -- and $ 70 of lathe cutting accessories i haven't told my wife about ......yet ...... after she sees the finished products -- so if you get bored with dovetails, mortises, tenons, dados, raised panels and the like -- there is a door open to you -- just give it a nudge --

happy woodworking -- be safe in your shop

Nice job, Larry, and good application of 4th axis. I do not own one of those tools. But there are several accessories to the RB I have "eyed" for awhile, which may become reality for a future birthday, father's day, or Christmas.

many thanks for your kind words, ray -- you should take the plunge -- with the talent you have shown with your other projects -- you could do wonders with the lathe application -- the only restriction in the application is the 6" max diameter workpiece/blank issue --
